While Gontijo was struggling against ALS, he inaugurated the Temple of Science in PG Ville, this place was designed and built by him. The temple was idealized as a place for contemplation and meditation about Science.
As physicist, engineer and builder, Paulo Gontijo always had the wish of creating a city. So, he designed a city that would be built along the BR050, a highway that connects Brasilia to São Paulo. In 2002, it was named as PG Ville.
When he was 67, Gontijo received a discouraging diagnosis: he had Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He started to develop research and studies about this disease.

Already graduated in Physics and Civil Engeering, made one of his childhood dreams come true when he built and managed the Hospital Doutor Miguel, in his hometowm, Bom Despacho (MG).
