PG Physics Award reward the best PhD thesis approved by the courses which is recognized bythe Education Ministry in the Physics field.
The prize is annual and part of the Capes Theses Grand Prix, in a partnership between Paulo Gontijo Institute and Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel. This prize have the value of R$ 15,000.
2008: 1st Physics PG CAPES Award was given in 2009, in CAPES headquarter (located in Brasilia) to Alessandro de Souza Villar, from University of São Paulo (USP) and pos doctor in Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, in German, by the study âMulticolor Entanglement between Intense Beams of Lightâ
2010: The II Physics PG CAPES Award was given in December, 2011; in CAPES headquarter (located in Brasilia) to Carlos Alfonso Martin Ballón Bayona, from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), by his study âADS/QCD: A string theory approach to strong interactionâ
2011: The winner of the third edition of the Physics PG CAPES Award was Maureen Joel Lagos Paredes, from State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), by his research "Structural effects in the quantum conductance and in the mechanical deformation of metallic nanowires". The delivery ceremony was in June, 2012; in the CAPES headquarter.
