Portuguese study of Masitinib, new drug for the treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Portuguese scientists are analyzing a new medicine for the treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
It is Masitinib, a drug that, according to the pharmaceutical company AB Science, has already shown positive results.
AB Science is a pharmaceutical company dedicated to the research, development and commercialization of protein kinase inhibitors (IPGs) - one of the main agents of the mechanism of protein regulation.
According to Dr. Mamede de Carvalho (neurologist, president of the scientific council of APELA - Portuguese Association of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and president of the Jury Committee of the GP Award of the Instituto Paulo Gontijo IPG), Masitinib, associated with Riluzol, showed positive results in treatment, such as slowing the progress of the disease.
The drug is still under review and is not available for use.
